The Brookwood Day Camp Sand Gnats defeated the Hiram Cohen & Sons Grasshoppers by the score of 4-2 on Tuesday evening, May 30. The Sand Gnats had another outstanding pitching performance by Daniel Schneider who struck out 10 batters in his 4 innings of work. The Gnats clinched 2nd place in the final standings and will enjoy a first-round bye this weekend. Nicholas Mu came on to pitch the final two frames for the Gnats and held the Grasshoppers scoreless to preserve the victory.

Matthew Rothman pitched superbly for the Grasshoppers, allowing only 3 runs while striking out 8 batters in 4 innings. Alex Gerome pitched the last 2 innings and allowed only 1 run to keep the contest close. The Sand Gnats were led offensively by Daniel Schneider who went 2 for 2 with 2 stolen bases. Max Drew, Matt Kravitz and Robert Brown all had timely hits for the Gnats. Ian Goodman, Nicholas Mu, Evan Kaminer, Ben Kronengold, and Matt Jacobson all drew key bases on balls to keep rallys going for the winning team. Tyler Javitz hit two scorching line drives which were caught by Gerome at shortstop and Jason Barbagallo in left field.

The Grasshoppers had strong performances by Barbagallo (double and run scored), Harry Kaye (single, stolen base and RBI), Chris Puccio (walk and stolen base) and Brandon Rabinowitz (single and stolen base).
