Homicide squad detectives recently reported the details of a fatal accident that occurred on July 27 at 10:43 p.m. in Syosset.

A Miller Place couple Phillip Christopher, 74, and Dorothy Christopher, 68, were walking across Jericho Turnpike in Syosset leaving a wedding rehearsal dinner at Testorosa Restaurant when they were struck by a car.

According to detectives, Jose Flores, of Huntington Station, was operating a 1998 Toyota Camry eastbound on Jericho Turnpike in Syosset when he struck the two pedestrians.

Philip was transported to Nassau University Medical Center with multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:14 a.m. by Emergency Room staff. Dorothy suffered head and chest injuries and was transported to North Shore Hospital in Manhasset. She succumbed to her injuries at 7:16 a.m. on July 28.

Flores' vehicle was impounded for brake and safety inspections. No charges were filed or summons issued.
