Syosset Central School District welcomed a very special new class on August 30 at the orientation for new faculty members. Each one of the District's ten schools will have at least one new teacher or administrator this year. The majority of new teachers will be at Syosset High School.
Superintendent Dr. Carole G. Hankin gave the newcomers a warm welcome. "Teachers make such a strong impact on their students' lives," she said.
School Board President Dr. Marc Herman, Board Vice President Patricia Maschio, and Trustees Fern Resnick and April Neuendorf welcomed everyone to the District and also expressed their good wishes for a successful career at Syosset. PTA Council President Sue Gold pledged the support and help of the community's parents and invited the teachers to become involved with PTA. Jeffrey Rozran was there to represent the teachers and to give them important information they would need in the coming year.
In what has become a tradition at the orientation session, everyone there introduced themselves and told an interesting personal fact or two. By the end of the introductions everyone was smiling and feeling that they had learned a lot about their new colleagues. It was evident that this was a very diverse group, with people reporting having such skills and avocations as figure skating, sky diving, scuba diving, dancing, and many unique experiences.
