The Syosset Strikers U-8 boys soccer team will compete for a national championship at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Disney World in January.

First, the Strikers played in the local tournament in Mitchell Field, Long Island and qualified for the regionals that were held in New Jersey.

At the regionals the Strikers competed against teams from Boston, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and made it to the finals in their bracket. In their final game, the Strikers needed to beat a previously undefeated team from Boston to qualify for the National Championship in Disney. The Strikers were down 2-0 at halftime, but the Strikers came out in the second half with heart and determination and scored three unanswered goals by Griffin Laine and David Tell to qualify the Strikers to compete for a national championship.

The Strikers controlled the midfield throughout the Regionals with the speed and skill of Hunter Kirsch, Griffin Halpern, Daniel Drayzen and Harrison Shouldice.

Coaches Frank Laine and Craig Kirsch said, "these boys have a lot of talent and there is no limit to what they can accomplish."
