The annual election of the Jericho Fire District was held on December 12, at fire headquarters for the purpose of electing a fire commissioner for a term of five years. Theodore Ketsoglou ran unopposed and received 86 votes.

In Syosset, Frank Vasile was re-elected with 350 votes to Stuart Zucker's 71 votes.

"I am very grateful for the tremendous vote of confidence our community has given me by returning me to the position of fire commissioner for the next five years," said Commissioner Vasile. "I want to continue working with my fellow commissioners to further increase communications between the fire district and the residents we have all sworn to protect, as well as the dedicated men and women of our fire department who respond when that alarm sounds."
