Embarking on their 2007 season, Syosset Baseball Association is proudly announcing the opening of a new baseball field. They extend an invitation to the community for the grand opening of this new 90-ft. field that the Town of Oyster Bay has built for its teams and league. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for Sunday, April 15, at 10 a.m. at the field with the opening day pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. Town of Oyster Bay officials have been given the honor of throwing out the first pitch to open up the field and the season for the Senior League.
This field is constructed with Major League dimensions - 301 feet down the lines, and 350 feet to centerfield. All teams for Syosset Baseball Association that play 90-ft. baseball will have full use of this field.
The new field, located in the Stillwell Woods complex will feature a fenced-in field, enclosed on-deck circles, newly sodded grass infield, dugouts, tarp covering for the hot summer months, yellow capping along the fences, and yellow foul poles.
Town of Oyster Bay Parks Commissioner Richard Betz, Supervisor John Venditto and their team met with Syosset Baseball Association in October 2006 and committed to improving the fields. The Syosset Baseball Association Board of Directors gave Commissioner Betz a priority list of field improvements. The 90 ft. field was priority number one, with the growing number of players advancing in the league past 12 years old.
Besides this new field, the Town of Oyster Bay Parks has significantly improved other Town of Oyster Bay fields for the upcoming season.
Syosset Baseball Association wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto, Town of Oyster Bay Commissioner of Parks Richard Betz and their staff members for making this happen this season for the 1,400 players and families in the Syosset Baseball Association.
Syosset Baseball Association members are looking forward to seeing the community come out for the field's grand opening on Sunday, April 15.
Syosset Baseball Association would like to advise all residents, players and families attending events at the Stillwell Woods complex that under no circumstances are any vehicles allowed to park blocking the emergency gate leading onto the baseball fields.
Additionally, under no circumstances are any vehicles allowed on the grounds outside of the designated parking areas.
