ShOA Rallies in Support of Contract, Binding Arbitration
The Sheriff Officers Association (ShOA), the union representing some 1,100 Nassau County correction officers, has been without a contract since December 2004. Contract negotiations with the county over the past two years have been unsuccessful as have attempts by the union to obtain binding arbitration, which requires the passage of home rule legislation by a vote of 13 legislators before the bill can be reviewed at a state level.

Syosset Schools Set to Receive New Playground Equipment
Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) and fellow majority lawmakers approved an inter-municipal agreement to assist the Syosset Central School District with the purchase of new playground equipment for seven elementary schools.

SYAC Girls Softball Skills Clinics Continue
SYAC Girls Softball Skills Clinics with Rusty "The Defensive Specialist" Torres are a continued success. A third session is slated for Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at Hap Harris Fields behind Syosset High School and South Woods Middle School. The clinic is free for all registered SYAC softball players.

Syosset Baseball Association opened up the 2007 season on April 14 with a complete array of games from ages 5 tee-ball through 12-year-old Major League Division under blue skies and 55-degree weather.
