Co-Valedictorians Samantha Ellner and Qi Yu and salutatorian Brienne Kugler are the top three graduates of 2007. The three addressed their classmates at graduation.

Co-Valedictorian Samantha Ellner, who will be attending Yale University in the fall said, "For many of us during the past four years, certain aspects of the high school routine tended to fall into a wearisome pattern, replete with classes, tests, and homework. The same daily grind, week after week, month after month, year after year. Today is a day to not only celebrate our accomplishments, but also to exhale, to breathe that big sigh of relief. Finally.

"While our years in high school might have seemed endless, I'm sure that all of our parents remember putting us on the bus for the first day of kindergarten like it was just yesterday. And decades from now, we will look back on the past four years, and chances are, we won't remember the tedium, the continuous parade of classes, tests, and homework."

Co-Valedictorian Qi Yu, who will be attending Harvard University in the fall, said, "I think that we, as students in a prestigious high school, as children in secure households, as friends to those who share our fortunes and the rare misfortune, often take, for granted, the people around us.

"We would not be where we are today without the foundation established by those around us. But, come fall of this year, we will need to recreate pillars of support and reliance. Come that time, never will an abundance of gratefulness overflow as that towards new friends whom we chat with, new professors who inspire us, and not-quite-old someones to pick up the phone when we, the homesick college kids, call home."

Salutatorian Brienne Kugler, who will be attending MIT in the fall, said, "this year, as senioritis kicked in, many of us took advantage of our free time. We started an Earth Club, spread awareness about global warming throughout the school, showed Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, and helped plan for Jericho to become more energy efficient next year. We attended a conference on Darfur, video conferenced with Steve Israel about the crisis, and initiated plans to educate more people about the genocide. And there are so many other examples of the Jericho class of 2007 devoting time and effort to issues of importance in our community, nation, and world."
