On June 30, the Jericho U-7 dragons played their way to the championship round of the Rough Rider's Liberty Cup Tournament, placing second in their division, and earning each player a trophy and a cup for the team, as well as the accolades and respect of tournament sponsors and opposing teams for the success of their young upstart program.
The tournament was held at the Bethpage State Park Polo Grounds and was well attended by local teams of all ages.
The Dragons, coached by Craig Goldstein and Craig Snyder, are comprised of seven year old children from Jericho who are all close friends and share a common passion for the sport.
"We are very proud of the team's progress. They are a great group of boys who have improved and developed their soccer skills significantly in the few months they have been playing together" stated Coach Craig Snyder.
Coach Craig Goldstein added, "The boys were thrilled with their accomplishment, and there is nothing these boys cannot do once they set their minds to it."
The Jericho U-7 Dragons are regional qualifiers and have received an invitation to the regional "Kick-It" three-on-three tournament taking place in New Jersey this summer.
