The summer softball season got into full swing this past week, with all three SYAC Travel Softball teams in action.

The Syosset Thunder, a U10 squad, won a 15-2 season opener over Bayville on July 13. Also playing games were the Storm, a U10 squad, and the Syosset Tornados, a U12 squad. All three Syosset teams compete in the Glen Cove Mayor's Trophy.

SYAC sponsors travel softball teams in summer, fall and spring seasons. Each spring, more than 600 girls from grades K through 8 participate in SYAC's main softball program. Sign-up dates are in January and February. For more information: www.syacgs.org.
