First Mosquito Pool with West Nile Virus Found in Jericho
The New York State Department of Health recently reported the first isolation of West Nile virus (WNV) from a mosquito pool in Nassau County. The virus was identified in a sample of Culex pipien-restuans mosquitos, a species which primarily bites birds. The sample was collected July 19th in Jericho.
