The "Peanuts" gang came alive on the Syosset Summer School stage in a delightful production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. A cast of about thirty middle school and high school students sang and danced the numbers from the musical that premiered Off Broadway in 1967. Despite the passage of forty years, the triumphs and travails of the beloved Peanuts characters continue to be funny and fresh, and to touch the heart.

Summer Stock students rehearse the show five days a week for five weeks as part of the Syosset Summer Schools enrichment program. The students also design and create scenery and costumes for the show, which is presented in two evening performances as well as during the day for other summer school students. Because there were so many talented students in the program, an understudy performance was also given. This year the show was directed by Syosset elementary school vocal music teachers Darlene Daress and Dina Sonnenberg. Assistant Director Katie O'Brien is a Syosset High School alumna who is currently studying music education at Penn State.
