The Jericho Jay Sox baseball team made history this summer by becoming the first Jericho baseball team ever to qualify for the renowned Plainedge Baseball Tournament playoffs. Jericho continued its banner season by advancing to the championship game of the tournament before finally succumbing to a tough East Meadow squad.

The Jay Sox qualified for the playoffs by going a perfect 5-0 and finishing in first place in their division during the tournament. Jericho advanced to the finals by defeating Seaford in a tough 7-3 victory. Pitcher Michael Goren gutted out 6 strong innings, Joe Velotti knocked in three runs and shortstop Douglas Enga saved at least one run with a heads-up play in the field. Ben Katz, Jake LoMonaco and Ryan Corcoran added some solid defense in the outfield to help Jericho advance.

Throughout the season it was a team effort for Jericho. Goren, Corcoran and Danny Miecuna led a talented pitching staff. Velotti, Matthew Lesser and Adam Shapiro were steady behind the plate. Enga, Ryan Condon, Matthew Solomon, Max Strauss, Tommy Covelli and Conor McElhinney played stellar infield defense. LoMonaco, Katz, Jared Weiss and Chad Cohen manned the outfield.

The Jay Sox were coached by Tom Goren, Phil Weiss and Gary Strauss. Jericho's Head of Baseball Operations was Lisa Goren.
