The Syosset Chargers U14 girls travel soccer team played the Jericho Power on Sunday losing another grueling game 3-1.

Most of the action took place deep in the Powers' territory for the first half and much of the second but the Chargers, playing without a sub, ran out of steam at the end.

The offense was led by forward Kate Hoffman who scored the only goal for the Charges and had two other shots on goal. Center midfielder Carly Ferber did her best to keep the ball in Power territory and forward Ari O'Shea made two perfect passes to Hoffman. Once again midfielder Brianna Peskin, handled most of the corner and goalie kicks. Montanna Rousso, Deanna Novin, and Rachel Solomon all kept driving the ball towards the goal but could not get off any clear shots. Although the Chargers are one of the most polite teams in the league (they lead the division in both "I'm Sorrys" and "Are you all rights?"), Casey McCord proudly received the team's first ever yellow card for accidental contact with a Jericho player.

The Defense was led by Center Rachel Beck and Sarah Simon both of whom appeared out of nowhere on numerous occasions to stop Power drives and protect the Chargers' goalie, Kristin Giordano, who got out of a sick bed to tend goal for the Charges.

The Chargers are a good soccer team but it is hard to play short handed or without subs. The team needs to add a number of girls to the roster for the spring season.

To be eligible, the player must be in 7th, 8th or 9th grade and must have been born after 8/1/93. For more information contact Coach Afrim at afrimsoccer@optonline.net.
