The large group seminar overviewed information that was developed based on recommendations from a district multicultural advisory committee. Parents had the opportunity to learn more about the elementary schools, middle school, high school, guidance, athletics, music, world languages, Special Education, ESL, PTA and the Board of Education. After the initial presentation, parents met in small groups with district and parent representatives for further discussions.
Parents were extremely appreciative of the opportunity to meet with school representatives. "Thank you so much to open the door and give us the chance to get to know our schools and the community more closely," said middle school parent Jieun Yoo. "I was very impressed how much effort the district put forth to accommodate the needs for our families." "Many parents feel so much more connected to our school community now through this meeting," shared April Song. "Thank you for your effort."
"The feedback that I have received after the meeting has been consistently appreciative, supportive and very positive," said Jericho Superintendent Hank Grishman. "I can't thank parents and staff enough for all their efforts in making the night a huge success. I look forward to all of our next steps." Parents who attended the presentation were encouraged to provide comments and opinions that will assist the district in developing future activities to make all families more welcome.
