On Jan. 20 and 27, 2008, Josh Cohen, a third-grade teacher in the community, is running the 10th annual 3-on-3 Long Island Neighborhood Basketball Classic. This annual double-elimination basketball event is in memory of Jill Adlman, who passed away of a brain tumor at the young age of 15. Jill's parents, Bonnie and Fred, are longtime residents of Jericho, and have been actively involved with the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation since its inception.
The Neighborhood Classic has already raised over $75,000 and hopes to break $100,000 this year. The event takes place at the Jericho High School gymnasium.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Each week, there is a free-throw contest for competitors of all ages. On Jan. 27, there will also be a raffle. The cost for January 20 (under 25 team average) is $60. The cost for January 27 (over 25 team average) is $120.
