Photo Benefit for Little Shelter Animal Rescue

A benefit for Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center will be held on Saturday, June 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cold Spring Harbor Library & Environmental Center at 95 Harbor Road, Cold Spring Harbor. Len Marks Photography will be here to take a 4 x 6 photo of you and your pet with a $10 minimum donation to Little Shelter.  Additional photos may be purchased at a discounted rate. No cats please for the photo shoot. Volunteers from Little Shelter will be here with dogs for adoption. Registration is requested for the photo shoot. Walk-ins will be taken on a first come, first served basis depending on availability. Please register at the Cold Spring Harbor Library Information Services Desk, or by phone at 631 692-6820 Ext. 200. $10 minimum donation. Checks payable to Little Shelter.

Open to all of Long Island- The Association of Generational Experts for Seniors (AGES) is hosting its first FREE “Options For Our Aging World Family & Caregiver Resource Fair” at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, located at 12 Franklin Avenue in Port Washington. Taking place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., this comprehensive event will provide caregivers managing the health and well being of today’s seniors with a one-stop-forum for gathering vital information, products and services to help support senior care, wellness and quality of life.

Field Trip: Young Naturalists Butterfly Discovery at Stillwell Woods Preserve for Families

Join Huntington-Oyster Bay Audubon Society on a walk as we search for various butterfly species that utilize this preserve and learn about the remarkable annual journey of the Monarch butterfly, as well as its critical relationship with milkweed. Directions: Jericho Tpke to South Woods Rd in Syosset. Go north about 1.5 miles. As soon as you pass Syosset HS, look right for the entrance to the park. Drive past the ball fields to the end of the parking area near the gate to the trails. You may have to park further up if there are soccer games in progress. Beat the Heat Summer Film Series - Green Fire Documentary Encore

The Huntington Oyster Bay Audubon invites you to a special encore screening of Green Fire, the first full-length, high-definition documentary film ever made about the legendary conservationist Aldo Leopold and his environmental legacy. Many of you missed our Long Island premier of this wonderful film due to a stormy weather forecast. Green Fire shares highlights from his extraordinary career, explaining how he shaped conservation and the modern environmental movement. Free Veterinary Lectures

Once a month through December. Long Island Cat Fanciers sponsors free lectures given by top local veterinarians on topics relevant to dog and cat owners. All members of the public are welcome to attend. Muttontown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

The Fellowship provides an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie, with talks presented by intelligent, enlightening and non-dogmatic speakers who come from the entire spectrum of the arts, history and sciences. This is followed by coffee and an informal discussion circle, held in the turn-of-the-18th century farmhouse in a bucolic setting. Portledge School Offers New Mommy & Me Program For The Summer

Portledge School is now offering classes for the very young children over the summer. Portledge Adventures for Mommy & Me offers children ages 9-18 months and their moms, dads or caregivers a safe, nurturing environment that will inspire imagination, self-expression, social interaction, and physical development through a variety of shared activities, such as music, games and crafts. Each week a new topic will be discussed among the parents. Eight classes will be offered on Thursdays from June 27 through August 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Registration has begun.
