Nassau County Police are looking for a truck driver who struck an officer on a Long Island Expressway service road in Syosset on October 14.
The Nassau County Highway Patrol officer, who was conducting a traffic stop at the time and standing outside his vehicle with emergency lights flashing, was struck just before noon by a truck carrying pipes on the eastbound South Service Road, west of South Oyster Bay Road, according to police.
The impact caused the officer to fall to the ground and police say the truck continued east without stopping. The officer, whose name has not been released, was able to radio for assistance and was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released for injuries to his head, neck and back.
