State Senator Carl Marcellino presented the Syosset Central School District with a citation for being the only New York State school to receive the 2009 Siemens Award.
The Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement are awarded annually to the top high school from each state by the Siemens Foundation and the College Board. The award signifies the winning high school and school district’s exemplary commitment to providing students with opportunities to explore the AP program and the work of dedicated staff members in encouraging student success.
As one of only 50 high schools nationally to receive this award, Syosset High School will receive a $1,000 grant to support science and mathematics education.
The Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement program, a partnership between the Siemens Foundation and the College Board, is committed to furthering the efforts of school districts across the country in expanding and strengthening the pool of mathematics, science and technology talent that is needed for the continued growth of businesses and industries in the United States and globally.
