The Syosset Chamber of Commerce held its July meeting at Christiano’s Restaurant on Ira Road in Syosset. This month, the Syosset Chamber chose a breakfast meeting, at 7:30 a.m., to reach out to those members who are unable to attend the evening meetings. In addition, having occasional breakfast/dinner meetings at local restaurants honors those chamber member restaurants.
The speakers included Roland D. Jimenez, V.P./Branch Manager, Community National Bank, Woodbury. Mr. Jimenez discussed online bank fraud and its effect on small businesses. For further information, Mr. Jimenez can be reached at 888-833-2CNB
Additional guest speakers were: Jeremy S. Kaufman, financial representative, and Dennis J. O’Sullivan, vice president, both of Forest Hills Financial Group. They discussed “The Living Balance Sheet,” in regard to preparing for retirement as well as common financial myths, such as: “my money only has to keep pace with inflation,” or “I won’t need life insurance when I retire,” “a 15-year mortgage costs less than a 30-year mortgage,” and other ‘myths’ pertaining to a financially secure retirement. For additional information, contact Mr. Kaufman at 646-666-5253.
Two upcoming chamber events were discussed: The Syosset Chamber’s “Movie Nite Out,” to be held August 17 at the Astoria Federal Savings Bank parking lot at 8 p.m. on a large outdoor screen, and the third annual “Chef’s Nite Out,” to be held at the Fox Hollow Country Club on Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The next Syosset Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting will be a dinner meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. at Angelina’s Restaurant, located at 30 Berry Hill Road in Syosset.
