Elizabeth Somerville, of Syosset, passed away on January 21, 2010. Wife of the late Joseph. Mother of Ellen (John), James (Catherine), Stephen, and Barbara Dunlop. Vivian Giresi, 85, lifelong resident of Syosset, passed away January 9, 2010. Wife of the late Frank. Mother of Roseanne Catalano (Fred) and the late Kenneth. At 92, Marion “Tess” Teslik was an independent, quick-witted, working woman with a flair for fashion.
Growing up in Jamaica, Queens, Ms. Teslik attended finishing school after her high school days and later enrolled at Fordham University.
She attended three years of college before meeting her husband, Alexander, Jr., while on a train traveling between New York and Connecticut. They later married and Ms. Teslik, an only child, went on to have three children, Alexander, Steven and Melanie.
Gloria Tuchman was born in the Bronx and was a teacher in the Bronx before becoming principal of the George A. Jackson Elementary School in Jericho in 1988. She worked in Jericho until 1995 and became an attorney. She is survived by her husband Chet Tuchman, Alan and Donna Tuchman, Terri and Russell Meyers and grandchildren Matthew, Megan, Madison and Taylor Tuchman and Sarah, Michael, Jack and Casey Meyers. Donations can be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering in Gloria’s name.
