Variety Child Learning Center in Syosset has been there for a long time. I remember my elementary school Hebrew School class taking a trip there to play with the kids 20 years ago (and yes, I am dating myself with that.) So even though I never really knew anyone who attended there, I still have fond memories of the place. But even if I had never been there, it would be impossible to deny the importance of the school to Syosset and the surrounding communities.
It was heartening to read this week that the local carpenters’ union stepped in to help repair the massive flood damage that the VCLC building suffered earlier this summer, but the fact remains that the center still needs financial assistance to get back into peak shape. If you’d like to support the children of VCLC, mail monetary donations to Variety Child Learning Center at 47 Humphrey Drive, Syosset, NY 11791, Attn: Development—Flood Appeal. You can also donate online at www.vclc.org.
