This year a member of the Robbins Lane Student Council suggested that we create a P.R.I.D.E garden in front of the school. As a group, we decided that in order to make our dream into a reality we would invite members of the Robbins Lane PTA to join in our venture. The officers of the Student Council attended a PTA meeting one evening, explained their goal and asked for volunteers to help them create a garden and assist in maintaining it throughout the summer months.
We were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm shown by our community. PTA Members Elana Lebolt and Melissa Schoenfeld volunteered to support our perennial plants and bushes, as well as assist in the planting. The colorful annual plants that were left over from our Mother’s Day Plant Sale were planted by the PTA.
During the week of June 3, the weather cooperated and each and every day you could find members of the Student Council, along with PTA volunteers, planting at 8:30 AM and during lunch/recess. By Thursday of that week our planting mission was completed. We are delighted with the results. The comments and compliments from students, teachers, parents, Dr. Goodman and community members are filling our hearts with PRIDE.
