The three Syosset Cyclones teams in the travel division of SYAC Girls Softball roared into the second half of their fall season with games the weekend of Oct. 13-14, following a Columbus Day break.
The U9 Cyclones, a team that held their first practice two months ago, upped their record in the Rocky Pacent League to 3-2 on Saturday, Oct. 13. On the last play of a seesaw game at Syosset-Woodbury Park, pitcher Sydney Nadel made a diving catch of a pop fly to hold onto a 13-12 win over the Lady Cobras of Roslyn.
The U12 Cyclones, which is 4-2 in the East Meadow Fall Classic, played a series of scrimmages to keep sharp. On Thursday, Oct. 11, they scrimmaged the U10 Cyclones, which is 6-0 for the season and leading the U10 division of the East Meadow Fall Classic. Then, on Friday evening under the lights at Syosset-Woodbury Park, they scrimmaged a tournament squad from Massapequa.
In addition to the travel program, SYAC Girls Softball hosts a spring community softball program for girls. Registration begins soon, and registration on four dates in January/February will be announced in November. For more information, visit www.SYACGS.org.
