The Syosset Braves lacrosse team fell to the Port Washington Vikings 11-9 last week, in the third and final round of Nassau County Class ‘B’ ‘C’ and ‘A’ Semi-finals at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium.
The Braves were the number-two seed playing the number-three seeded Vikings, who will now go on to face the Massapequa Chiefs, who gained entry by defeating Farmingdale 13-4 last week.
Both teams fought for an early edge in the first quarter, and Port Washington took the lead 4-1 by the five-minute mark. Syosset climbed up to 5-4 with 4.6 seconds left going into the second, and then tied the game 6-6 coming out of halftime.
After the teams traded goals for the third quarter, Syosset’s Nick Hatzipetrakos put the Braves up 9-8 going into the fourth, where the game was decided. Port Washington’s defense prevented Syosset from scoring any further, and slipped in three more goals.
The Braves’ Hatzipetrakos, Andrew Keith and Corey Yoskowitz led scoring with two goals each, and John Diaz, Mac O’Keefe and Alex Concannon had one goal each. Braves goalie Ryan Feit had nine saves, and Port Washington’s Nicky Ferrero had eleven saves.
