Syosset Youth Football Season Begins

The Syosset Braves 9-year-old football team started the season in a 0-2 hole with tough losses to two highly ranked teams. Two weeks ago they went on the road and lost a close one to Seaford by the score of 18-12.

The Braves had the lead in the first half 12-6 with a long pass from quarterback Nicholas Macchia to Luca Cutolo for 60 yards.

Ryan Monfort and Luca Cutolo both had interceptions with Cutolo having a pick 6 with a great block by linebacker Nicholas Macchia who sprung him free and he rumbled for 50 yards and the lead. The Braves defense lead by defensive end Robert Trapeo and linebacker Gaige Ciccotto held Seaford in check in the first half, giving up only one touchdown.

In the second half the Braves couldn’t move the ball on offense and there defense held tough with Quinn Broggy, Jason Lebson, Joseph Mehran, Judson Levi, Perry Krosser, Matthew Gerosa and Dean Sacco playing tough defense but it wasn’t enough as Seaford prevailed.

The Braves had their first home game and lost to Massapequa 25-12 with the game being much closer as the Massapequa Mustangs scored with one minute left in the game.

The offensive line anchored by Ryan Voight at center, Quinn Broggy and GianLuca Moscheni at guards, Marco Minuto and Jacob Sheedy at tackles; James Modena and Joseph Mehran at ends were able to make enough running room for Luca Cutolo to score two more touchdowns.

The defense was on the field for a long time and played tough. The Braves were cheered on by the 20 cheerleaders trying to cheer them on to victory.
