Loyola University Maryland senior cross country runner Kiera Harrison of Syosset broke the 6k program record at the Salty Dog Invitational, hosted by the United States Naval Academy, covering the course in 20:51.75.
Harrison trailed the top-finisher, Annie-Norah Beveridge of Navy, by only five seconds as the winner checked in at 20:46.23.
Harrison’s second place finish tops the previous record by nearly 11 seconds recorded by Andrea Rovegno in 2005. This was the second-consecutive meet Harrison finished first among all other Greyhound participants.
She helped lead the Loyola women to a fifth place finish with 113 points, trailing the host Navy who finished first, University of Maryland in second and UMBC and American in third and fourth, respectively.
