With the singing of the national anthem and a ceremonial first pitch, the SYAC spring season of softball got under way under sunny skies on April 19 at Syosset Woodbury Park.
Local legislator Judy Jacobs threw out the first pitch to start a game in the Junior League (grades four through five) of SYAC Girls Softball. Syosset High Senior Holly Roselle sang The Star-Spangled Banner—and then it was time to “play ball!”
Earlier in April, a series of skills clinics was held at South Woods Middle School for the SYAC Instructional League. A pitching clinic for the Junior and Senior Leagues was held Saturday, April 24, in the field behind South Woods Middle School.
More than 400 girls from Syosset, Woodbury and Jericho are playing SYAC Softball this spring. SYAC also hosts four travel teams from grades four through seven. For more info: www.syacgs.org
