On May 20, Nassau County residents will be voting on proposed school budgets for the 2008-2009 school year as well as candidates who will be representing communities on the school boards.

In the Elmont School District, there are two seats up for the school board and library board. For the school board, incumbent Aubrey Phillips is running against Anthony Maffea Sr. and incumbent Elsy Mecklembourg-Guibert is running against Denise Walker.

For the Elmont Library Board, incumbent Maria Gregori is running against John Beasley and there are three candidates running for the other seat. Since incumbent Michael Rothstein is not running for re-election, Kathleen Harsh, Al Burt and John Harrison are running for that seat.

For the West Hempstead School Board, incumbent Vincent Trocchia is running against Walter Enjes and incumbent Pamela Lotito is running unopposed.

For the West Hempstead Library Board, incumbent Ray Duran in running unopposed.

For the Franklin Square School Board, incumbent Jean Fichtl is running unopposed.

For the Franklin Square Library Board, Michael Russo and Francis J. Ammendolea are both running unopposed.
