Town Denies Carle Place Construction Application
The Town of North Hempstead denied an application presented to the board Jan. 4 for the construction of a 20,000 square foot addition to the Country Glen Shopping Center located on Old Country Rd. in Carle Place. The application would have allowed the applicant to construct a large building in the shopping center, which already contains 284,047 square feet of retail space.

Westbury Republican Club Hosts Chairman Mondello
"You don't have to read Newsday, you don't have to watch Channel 12, and you don't have to read The Westbury Times to learn we goofed in the management of the county," Republican Chairman Joseph Mondello told over 100 attendees at the Jan. 12 meeting of the Charles J. Fuschillo Republican Club in Westbury. "The question is, what are we going to do about it in the year 2000?"

East Meadow High School and Barnum Woods Elementary School students held a fund raising basketball tournament this past holiday season. Through their collective efforts, over 650 canned food items were collected to help those in need.

Frog's Football Review
Months before the fall season began, Carle Place was seeded No. 1 in Conference IV. The task of being seeded first is simple - you play all of the top eight teams in your conference. Unfortunately for Carle Place, they were limited by a small JV varsity turnout which meant that many of the players were forced to play on both offense and defense. This always takes its toll on the team and probably was the greatest obstacle that the coaching staff had to overcome. Nevertheless, their execution of the Delaware Wing T offense to perfection, as well as the outstanding individual efforts of the players, enabled the Frogs to drive to their goal, playing for a County Championship.
