Young Patriot Places in Countywide Competition
Carle Place student Laura Mulvey recently participated in the Youth Essay Contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Her essay on the theme "How should we honor America's veterans?" was selected as the first place winner from the Carle Place Middle School by Post 5253 in Albertson. In the Countywide competition, Laura's essay won second place in Nassau County.

Westbury Seniors Honor Volunteers
The Senior Citizens of Westbury Center honored volunteers at a special Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held April 14. "Volunteers work in every aspect of Center life, and we attribute the success of the Westbury Senior Center to these wonderful people who give from the heart," said Executive Director Yetta Waldman.

Westbury Student Is Member of Hamilton College Softball Team
Amanda Chaimovitch, the daughter of Bernard Chaimovitch and Ellen Chaimovitch of Prince Lane in Westbury is a member of the 2000 Hamilton College softball team, which is currently 3-12 on the season.
