Representatives from the Sheriff Officers Association were on hand June 21 to present East Meadow High School Class of 2000 Graduate Erin Elizabeth Sharkey with the Sheriff Officers Association Scholarship in the amount of $500.

"Erin is truly deserving of this scholarship," said President Michael F. Adams, who presented the award.

"Since the inception of the new union, we are attempting to become more involved with the community," explained Kevin A. Imm, a member of the Sheriff Officers Association Board of Directors. "We also sponsor local Little League teams, football teams, and participate in toy and food drives to benefit the community. Next year, we hope to be able to do even more through increased fundraising efforts."
