District Proposes $71M Spending Plan
Residents of the Westbury School District will take to the polls on Tuesday, May 18 to vote for or against the district's proposed 2004-2005 budget of $71,184,386. The proposed spending plan represents an increase of 8.99 percent, or $5,872,903 over last year's contingency budget of $65,311,483, which was applied to support the current year's cost after voters failed the spending plan.

Dillon Announces Maximum Sentence In Drive-By Shooting of New Cassel Girl
Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon announced that Marvin Osorio a 21-year-old street gang member from Westbury, has been given the maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison for the Aug. 26, 2001 murder of a 14-year-old New Cassel girl.

Wheatley Sophomore Throws Perfect Game
By his first-ever start as a member of the varsity baseball team, Giancarle Ciolino pitched a perfect game for The Wheatley School. A JV player at the start of the season, Giancarlo, a sophomore, was promoted to the varsity squad and responded with an 11 strikeout, 78 pitch performance.

Rotary Golf Outing May 11
The Westbury-Carle Place Rotary Club will hold its Spring Golf Outing at the Middle Island Country Club on Tuesday, May 11. The cost is $2150 per golfer and includes brunch at 11 a.m., tee-off at noon and a cocktail hour and dinner.
