Westbury Girls Softball Defeats Roosevelt
The Westbury Girls Varsity Softball Team defeated Roosevelt on May 4 with a final score of 17-13. Westbury pitcher Kanwal Batool struck out 10 batters. Head coach Tom Mattson and assistant Kaliope Sitaras have led the girls to a 2-8 record so far this season. The team is developing into an outstanding fielding unit and their batting skills are sharpening as well.

Westbury Okinawan Karate School to Welcome Special Guest May 21
The Westbury Recreation Department's Karate Program, which began in April 2003, will be visited by 10th Dan Hanshi Seichieci Iha, the highest ranking practitioner of the Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Shidokan style in the USA Iha, who lives in Michigan and oversees schools all over North America, will attend a Friendship Workout and Reception at the Westbury Okinawan Karate School on Friday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Westbury Community Center. This is Iha's annual visit to the schools in this area. Iha will visit the Little Neck dojo on Thursday, May 20 and the Hicksville dojo on Saturday, May 22. Spectators will be welcome to observe this traditional Okinawan Martial Art, which will feature participants from all over the tri-state area.
