Westbury Schedules Revote for Proposed School Budget
The Westbury School District Board of Education has scheduled a second vote on the district's proposed budget for Tuesday, June 15. The previous vote on the $71,184,386 budget, which was held on Tuesday, May 18, fell 57 votes short of passage.

Ashley Lane, Softball Rookie of the Year
Freshman outfielder Ashley Lane, a resident of Westbury and student at Hofstra University, was named the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) Softball Rookie of the Year in a vote of the conference's coaches. Lane helped Hofstra finish in first place in the CAA regular season standings by two games, giving the Pride the right to host the CAA Tournament, which took place May 13-15.

Triathlon 'Banks' On New Day & Sponsor
A late-summer tradition and one of Long Island's signature athletic events, the Town of Hempstead triathlon is "racing" into its 21st year with a new sponsor and a new day of the week. After 20 years of Saturday races the triathlon is moving to Sunday for the very first time and this year's event is set for Sunday, Sept. 12. Supervisor Kate Murray joins triathlon officials in welcoming the Community Bank of New York as the event's new corporate sponsor.
