Homicide Squad Det./Sgt. Barry reports details of a fatal auto accident that occurred Saturday, Sept. 25 at 12:45 a.m. in Westbury.

According to detectives, a 2005 Dodge Magnum, operated by Gerrard Ganz, 32, of New York City, was traveling westbound on Old Country Road when it collided with a 1997 Honda, operated by Tiffany Hagigal, 17, of Westbury. Hagigal was attempting to make a left from eastbound Old Country Road onto School Street.

After the initial collision, the Honda struck a telephone pole and burst into flames. Four passengers in the Honda have been pronounced dead as a result of the accident. They are identified as Guy Victor, 19, of Westbury, Shauna Mattison, 15, of the Bronx, Anna Mendoza Burgess, 16, of the Bronx and Anelie Thelemaque, 16, of Westbury. Hagigal was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for observation.

Ganz was arrested at the scene and was charged with DWI. He was arraigned in First District Court Sunday, Sept. 26. Both of the vehicles were impounded for safety tests and the investigation is continuing.
