In the May 8, 2008 edition of The Westbury Times Page 21, in the article entitled "Election Time Policies," you stated in paragraph/bullet three, "In the last two issues before an election only letters expressing support for candidates will be accepted."
In the editorial section of the same edition (Page 20), there was a letter to the editor written by Chester McGibbon entitled, "2008 Budget Vote is Most Crucial in Years." Based on the above stated policy, I would like to know which candidate or candidates Mr. McGibbon is supporting.
The third bullet further states that, "Letters that would require a response from a candidate will not be used in the last two issues before an election." Referring again to Mr. McGibbon's statement, "that there are some people in the community, including candidates running for election to the board, who are actively urging people to vote the budget down for a second time," in my opinion, is an accusation that warrants a response by a candidate.
However, since Mr. McGibbon did not state whom he is supporting, and, based on your election time policy, I can assume that all of the candidates and many of the residents may be actively urging people to vote the budget down for a second time.
If I were Mr. McGibbon I would have stated my candidates of choice, which would have been directly in line with the policy by showing support.
