The Long Island Scottish Festival,a perennial favorite among Scots and non-Scots alike for over 50 years, is once again returning to Old Westbury Gardens. Guests can enjoy the Highland Games such as caber toss, putting the stone and tossing the sheaf. Other festival highlights include concerts featuring Scottish/Celtic music and dance, pirate shows,a British auto exhibit, and kids events such as face painting and puppet shows. Guests can also enjoy traditional fare such as fish and chips and meat pies. General admission is $15, seniors $12, ages 7-17 (youth) $7 and those six and under attend free. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A group of Westbury churches will be hosting a gospel program, consumer information, and health screenings. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bunky Reid Park in New Cassel. Call 333-0874 for more information.
The community at large is invited to Community Reform Temple’s Family Fun Day. There will be lots of food and plenty of games including a 3-legged-race and balloon bursting contest. The event will celebrate the beginning of the school year and there is no fee for admission or play. Starts at noon at 712 The Plain Road, Westbury. For more information call 333-1839.
