U.S. District Court Justice Sandra J. Feuerstein has scheduled Nassau County Legislator Roger Corbin’s trial for Oct. 19. Corbin’s attorney, Thomas Liotti, however, is seeking to push the trial date back to December so that his client, who represents the county’s 2nd Legislative District, may concentrate on his bid for re-election in November; a Democratic primary comprised of as many as four candidates (Corbin, Gregory Lewis, Pablo Sinclair and, possibly, current North Hempstead Town Councilman Robert Troiano), is also scheduled to take place Sept. 15. Corbin was arrested in May on charges that he evaded income taxes totaling some $226,000 he received from a developer. He was indicted on four felony counts – three fraud counts (for allegedly filing false federal income taxes for 2005, 2006 and 2007) and one count of lying to federal agents.
