The North Hempstead Democratic Party announced that Viviana Russell of Westbury is their candidate for town board District 1. Russell, 37, will run for the seat currently held by Robert Troiano, who is not seeking re-election on a town level.
Russell is a 10-year resident and block captain with the Unified New Cassel Community Revitalization Corporation. On a professional level, she is currently employed as a communications project manager for the National Association of Mothers’ Centers in Jericho. In the past, Russell worked as a constituent liaison for New York State Assemblyman Charles Lavine and, froom 2005 to 2007, served as a 311 operator for the Town of North Hempstead.
Challenging Russell is Republican Party candidate Karin Campbell, a 37-year resident of Westbury who currently serves as president of the Westbury Board of Education.
