The Eva Tucci Award is presented in MS. Tucci’s memory each year to the Top Nassau County Scholar-Athlete who best exemplifies the passion and efforts of sports that Eva Tucci possessed.
Leanne Iannucci is a 14-time varsity letter recipient and three-sport athlete (softball, field hockey and bowling) at Carle Place High School. She is known as a leader at Carle Place, having been a three-time softball captain, field hockey captain and bowling captain.
Leanne is an All State, All Long Island and a three-time All County, All Conference and All Division softball player. She has been the starting varsity catcher since seventh-grade and also a starter on four Nassau County Championship softball teams and three Long Island championship softball teams, as well as having received the Team Clutch Player Award and MVP Award. In field hockey, she was a captain and a four-year starter at goalie and earned All Long Island 2nd Team, All County Honorable Mention, All Conference and the Unsung Hero Award. Leanne’s field hockey teams went to four county championship finals. As a varsity bowler for four years, she was a captain and earned All County and All Conference honors with her teams twice finishing second to the eventual county championship team. She has been a NYSPHSAA scholar on all teams. Leanne has played national travel softball for Team Long Island Gold and competed through out the country in numerous tournaments and national championships.
Leanne is ranked No. 1 in her class with a weighted average of over 103, an SAT score of 2200 and an ACT score of 33. She has taken and completed the most rigorous academic programs available at Carle Place High School, including nine AP classes and will graduate with AP honors with distinction.
Some of the awards and achievements that she has received are, The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal Recipient, The Dartmouth Book Award Recipient, The U.S. Army Reserve National Schlolar Athlete Award, The News 12/Capital One Long Island Scholar Athlete Award and The Wendy’s Hiesman, New York State finalist.
Leanne is president of Mu Alpha Theta, Math National Honor Society, president French National Honor Society, Tri –M Music Honor Society, National Honor Society, sports editor of the Crossroads, member of CPHS band, orchestra and marching band (flutist/bassoonist), Mathletes and is a voluntary math tutor. She also participates in “School Athletes as School Leaders” at Hofstra University.
In the fall, Leanne will attend Cornell University, where she will study biological engineering and play for the Division 1 Ivy League Cornell Big Red softball team.
