John H. Strada, formerly of Westbury, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lake Canadaigua, NY, on Oct. 12, 2009. He was 73 years old.
Mr. Strada attended St. Brigid’s School and graduated from Westbury High School before attending Georgetown University, the University of Alabama and Sacred Heart University, where he received a Bachelor of Science. Upon entering the Air Force, Mr. Strada served as medical technologist at Walker Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC. He later worked for 23 years in sales and management for the American Supply Company.
Mr. Strada’s great passion was golf, which he learned to play at the Salisbury Golf Court at the age of 13. As a high school player, he was Nassau County Sectional Champion, competing as the No. 1 male on the Westbury team. In his later years, Mr. Strada embraced a second career as a PGA Golf Professional.
Mr. Strada is survived by his wife Bernadette of 48 years; three children, Joseph Strada, Mary (Mark) Tabrum, Regina (Patrick) Schnall; his brother, former Westbury Village Mayor Ernest Strada; sister, Rose Fuschillo; five grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
