On Feb. 9, I stood with some of you and announced that I had lost the race for Assemblyman in the 15th District to my opponent.
We had only a month to prepare for that day, to make it known that there was a special election, to build support and to let people know what my ideas are and how I could move us forward.
What we saw in the results was that people are fed up, angry at politicians, and angry at the Democratic Party. Republicans are motivated to get to the polls, and Democrats simply stayed home. The prevailing political climate was too much to overcome, but even so, I am proud of the job we did together, and greatly appreciate your help.
To everyone who donated to my campaign, walked door-to-door, passed out literature at train stations and made phone calls to rally support for my campaign, thank you for your help. To the unions and organizations that supported me (Newsday; Planned Parenthood; NARAL, Pro-Choice NY; Sierra Club; LI Environmental Voters Forum; 32 BJ, a NYC Service union), thank you for your endorsements.
Again, I greatly appreciate your support and your help. We may have lost, but no one can say we didn’t try.
