CP’s Leanne Iannucci Receives Citibank/News 12 Scholar-Athlete Award

Congratulations to Leanne Iannucci for receiving the Citibank/News 12 Scholar-Athlete for the 2011-2012 school year. Leanne is Carle Place High School’s 22nd recipient.

Leanne is a well-rounded young lady who has been recognized as an extraordinary person for her numerous contributions in the classroom, on the field and with her involvement in many extracurricular activities at Carle Place Middle/High School. 

For those who have had the privilege of teaching or coaching Leanne, all have expressed similar thoughts about her strong character, as well as acknowledging her amazing academic and athletic abilities. Leanne is a self-motivated student-athlete who is an inspired person that also inspires others.

Leanne is in the top of her class, while playing three varsity sports for the past four years. She continues to study a rigorous course load throughout high school, including accelerated and honors classes.

Leanne is a proud member of the National, French, Tri-M Music and “Mu Alpha Theta” Math Honor Societies. Her SAT score is 2200; SAT II’s in Math 2 is 790, Biology is 740, Chemistry is 720; and her ACT score is a 33. Leanne is a five-year NYSPHAA Scholar-Athlete Award winner. She is the school newspaper (Crossroads) sports editor. Leanne is also in the school marching band; she is a flutist and bassoonist.

Leanne is member of three varsity teams, field hockey (All-Conference), bowling (All-County) and softball (All-State). Leanne has been the varsity catcher since seventh grade.  In the past five years (2007-2011), she has been a valuable member of two Conference Championships, four Class B County Titles and three Long Island Championships.

Her stats are remarkable. As a seventh-grader, Leanne received All Division Honors; eighth grade All Conference Honors and ninth through eleventh grade All County Honors. As a junior she also received, All Long Island and All State Honors. Leanne plans to pursue a major in biological engineering at Cornell University in addition to playing softball.

CPHS is proud to have Leanne represent its school. Leanne demonstrates great poise and maturity. She is an exemplary student-athlete who has earned this most prestigious award. Leanne Iannucci exemplifies every aspect of the Citibank/News 12 Scholar-Athlete Award.
