Westbury Runner Participates In Blue Ribbon 5K Run

Boyd Carrington of Amityville outran Robis Degirmenci of Port Washington to the finish line of the 3rd annual Blue Ribbon 5 Kilometer Run, as 372 runners and walkers were on hand at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course in Woodbury on Nov. 13. The Integrated Medical Foundation event helped promote men’s health and helps draw attention to the importance of early detection of prostate cancer.

Jenney Tesoriero of Westbury was very prominent on the Awards stage. Tesoriero was the first woman finisher in the 40-44 age group, crossing the finish line with a time of 23:53.

Integrated Medical Foundation and its Executive Director Rhonda Samuel once again presented the Run, with race management services provided by the Greater Long Island Running Club. Samuel was one of the participants in this year’s Run, completing her first race ever in a very credible time of 31:08.

Thanks and congratulations go to the key sponsors of the event: Premier Partner Abbott, Lead Sponsor Shiel Medical Laboratory, Platinum Sponsor Advanced Urology Centers of New York, Gold Sponsors the CPA firm of Nussbaum Yates Berg Klein & Wolpow, LLP, and Know Error.

Special thanks go to the Town of Oyster Bay, led by Town Supervisor John Venditto, who was on hand to welcome the runners to the event, to the incredibly competent and enthusiastic folks from the Town’s Parks Department, and to County Legislator Rose Marie Walker, who never seems to miss a local recreational sports event.

It’s never too late to contribute to the Integrated Medical Foundation and the good work it is doing to promote better men’s health and to fight prostate cancer.

“I urge all men age 40 and over to talk to their health care provider about prostate cancer,” said Rhonda Samuel.
