The SUNY College at Old Westbury sophomore outfielder John Angelino was recently named Skyline Conference Baseball Co-Player of the Week. Angelino closed out the week by producing four consecutive multiple hit games (10 for 15, a home run, six RBI, seven runs and four stolen bases).
In a 4-2 week for Old Westbury, Angelino hit .500 (10 for 20) including three doubles, one triple and one homer to go with six RBI, 10 runs scored and five stolen bases. He generated a 1.125 slugging percentage.
Against Purchase, he went 6-for-6 with four runs scored, two RBI and three runs scored as Old Westbury split the doubleheader. He closed out the week with a 4-for-9 series sweep against Mount Saint Vincent, including three runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and a two-run homer. He scored the game-winning run in Old Westbury’s 11-10 game two victory, clubbing a one out double in the ninth, followed by stealing third and scoring off a walk-off single by Brian Walsh.
On the season, the Shirley, NY native is hitting .397 (27-68) with 26 runs scored, 17 RBI and 12 stolen bases while slugging .632 (nine doubles, two triples, one home run). He ranks among the team leaders in runs scored (tied for first), home runs (tied for first), doubles (tied for first), triples (second), RBI (third), hits (fourth) and stolen bases (fourth).
