Westbury Baseball Downs Great Neck South High School

On Wednesday May 16, Westbury High School senior pitcher Ralph Davis pitched his second consecutive complete game, one-hit shutout against first-place Great Neck South High School to lead the Westbury Green Dragons to a 3-0 victory.

Davis surrendered the only hit, a single in the second inning. He struck out four and walked one. His offensive support came from seniors Miguel De La Rosa, Brandon Percival and Fahraad Johnson. De La Rosa provided what proved to be the winning run in the second inning with an RBI single and finished with two hits on the day. Brandon Percival and Fahraad Johnson each went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Davis’ first one-hitter came on Friday, May 11, against league rival Uniondale. Ralph only needed 87 pitches to complete the victory. On his way to the 7-0 win, he struck out 12 while walking two. Only one batter reached second base during the game. The senior class once again provided the offense. Fahraad Johnson contributed with three hits and an RBI. Brandon Percival was 3 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Carlos Viquez added two hits, two runs and an RBI as well. Davis, who was also successful at the plate that day, went 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored. Davis was selected as an All Conference Player by the Nassau County Baseball Coaches Association and will be recognized for this achievement at the Nassau County Baseball Coaches Awards dinner on June 13 at the Uniondale Marriot.

The senior class represented themselves with distinction in their final home games at Westbury. Westbury finished the season with an overall record of 8-11.
