The annual homecoming event for Westbury School District will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13. This will be the culmination of Spirit Week, which will be observed throughout the school district from Oct. 9 through 12 and will be preceded by a pep rally at the high school on Oct. 12.
As tradition holds, the annual pancake breakfast sponsored by Westbury High School PTSA will officially kick off the day’s activities, which will include the parade along Post Avenue and the football game at 2 p.m.
Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. in the cafeteria of Westbury High School, and will feature all you can eat pancakes. The breakfast will also include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and hot and cold beverages for only $7. The parade commences at noon, leaving from Bedford Avenue and travelling north on Post Avenue and finishing at Westbury High School. All six schools in the district will be participating and will be sponsoring floats in keeping with this year’s homecoming theme: Classic Video/Arcade Games.
This year’s Grand Marshal will be former district superintendent, Dr. Constance Clark-Snead. The football game will be between Westbury High School and Mepham High School and halftime activities will include the presentation of the homecoming court and the king and queen. The day’s activities will conclude with the homecoming dance at 8 p.m. at Westbury High School.
