The Carle Place High School boys varsity soccer team accomplished the goal the team had set way back in June: win a Nassau county title. All season, the coaching staff preached two words, consistency and focus.
After a long layoff due to Hurricane Sandy, the team was finally able to take the field again and put those two words in motion. The team beat rival Wheatley by the score of 2-1 in the semifinals. In the final, the squad took down Cold Spring Harbor, 4-0. It was a gratifying season in which the team won its first ever Class B county title, and the school’s first county title since winning the Class C crown in 2003-04.
Special thanks to the students, staff and the entire community for their support all season. Players that will be honored at the NCSCA dinner on Dec. 4, include County Finals MVP George Costidis; All Conference players Mike Montello, Adam Cabrera and Rob Posillico; All County Honorable Mention John Guzzo and Guiseppe Altadonna; and All County Dylan Klein and Matt Carr.
