On Friday, Dec. 28, the Westbury varsity boys basketball team defeated Manhasset in the consolation game of the Chaminade Christmas Tournament, 65 to 64.
The Dragons were down 37 to 22 at halftime but made a big comeback, outscoring Manhasset 26 to 13 in the fourth quarter. Avery Flitchett-Flores scored 12 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter and Brian Newell sank two free throws with eight seconds remaining to lift Westbury to the victory. Newell finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds and was selected to the all-tournament team.
Jamaul Heron hit eight out of 10 three-pointers to win the tournaments three-point shootout contest.
